Road Tax Evasion Increase
There has been a nearly 3-fold increase in Road Tax evasion since 2014.
The old paper tax disc was abolished back in 2014, and since then Data from the Department for Transport shows that £34.51 million was lost due to untaxed vehicles in the 2013/14 financial year, compared to projected losses of £94.1 million for 2019/20.
In fairness this is down from a high of £107 million in 2017/2018, but abolishing the paper tax disc was supposed to save the government £10 million a year.
Who would have thought that removing a highly visible marker for vehicle tax would result in people not paying for it?
